Vista Staffing is seeking a Board-Certified Physician Assistant with at least three years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery to provide full-time locum coverage in Hawaii. The role involves perioperative patient management, surgical assisting, and outpatient care within a hospital or clinic setting. The position offers a minimum 6-month commitment, with potential for longer assignments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all cardiac and thoracic surgical cases as a Surgical First Assist.
• Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) and manage related post-operative care.
• Manage perioperative patient care, including preoperative and postoperative responsibilities.
• Serve as the primary communication link with hospital nursing staff.
• Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure smooth perioperative workflows.
• Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient management.
• Participate in a 1:2 call schedule, including weeknights and weekends.
• Assist with patient care in outpatient clinics when required.

Compensation

• $115 per hour, paid hourly.
• Additional compensation includes travel and housing support.
• Tax status: 1099 contractor.
• Relocation support available.

Shift & Schedule

• Variable schedule with a mixture of weeknight and weekend call.
• Call frequency: 1:2, alternating between weeknights and weekends.
• Assignment duration: 6 to 12 months minimum.

Requirements

• Board-Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, including cardiac/thoracic surgery.
• Experience as a Surgical First Assist in cardiac and thoracic procedures.
• Proficiency in EVH and post-op care procedures.
• Ability to manage perioperative patient care in a hospital setting.
• Experience with Epic EMR system.
• Eligible for Hawaii medical licensure (assistance available).
• Willingness to commit to a 6-12 month assignment.
• Ability to work variable schedules including weeknights and weekends.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with hospital staff.
