Vista Staffing is seeking a Board-Certified Physician Assistant with at least three years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery to provide full-time locum coverage in Hawaii. The role involves perioperative patient management, surgical assisting, and outpatient care within a hospital or clinic setting. The position offers a minimum 6-month commitment, with potential for longer assignments.
Responsibilities
- Assist in all cardiac and thoracic surgical cases as a Surgical First Assist.
- Perform Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) and manage related post-operative care.
- Manage perioperative patient care, including preoperative and postoperative responsibilities.
- Serve as the primary communication link with hospital nursing staff.
- Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure smooth perioperative workflows.
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient management.
- Participate in a 1:2 call schedule, including weeknights and weekends.
- Assist with patient care in outpatient clinics when required.
Compensation
- $115 per hour, paid hourly.
- Additional compensation includes travel and housing support.
- Tax status: 1099 contractor.
- Relocation support available.
Shift & Schedule
- Variable schedule with a mixture of weeknight and weekend call.
- Call frequency: 1:2, alternating between weeknights and weekends.
- Assignment duration: 6 to 12 months minimum.
Requirements
- Board-Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA).
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience, including cardiac/thoracic surgery.
- Experience as a Surgical First Assist in cardiac and thoracic procedures.
- Proficiency in EVH and post-op care procedures.
- Ability to manage perioperative patient care in a hospital setting.
- Experience with Epic EMR system.
- Eligible for Hawaii medical licensure (assistance available).
- Willingness to commit to a 6-12 month assignment.
- Ability to work variable schedules including weeknights and weekends.
- Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with hospital staff.
