This is a 15-month fellowship program at Kaweah Health Medical Center in Visalia, CA, designed to train advanced providers in emergency medicine through didactic and clinical experiences. Graduates will develop skills in rapid patient evaluation, emergency procedures, leadership, and interdisciplinary interaction, preparing for future leadership roles in emergency medicine.

Responsibilities

• Complete didactic training, clinical rotations, and off-site experiences in emergency medicine, critical care, trauma, pediatrics, mental health, and intake.
• Gain hands-on experience in emergency procedures and patient evaluation under supervision of certified providers.
• Participate in weekly conferences, discussions, and training sessions with emergency medicine residents.
• Develop leadership skills and learn appropriate patient disposition and interaction with attending and consulting physicians.
• Obtain certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS prior to program start.
• Engage in clinical excellence initiatives, provider wellness activities, and leadership development.
• Work in a high-volume, Level III trauma center with advanced ED resources and support staff.
• Collaborate with academic partners and participate in simulation training and multidisciplinary team activities.

Compensation

• Hourly rate of $23.00, paid as a W-2 employee.

Requirements

• Physician Assistant applicants must be NCCPA certified or a graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program.
• Nurse Practitioners must be AANC or AANP certified, or a graduate of a CCNE or ACEN accredited program.
• Current California medical license required.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required prior to start.
• Furnishing DEA Schedule II-V certificate required before program begins.
• Previous EMS or ED work experience is highly desirable but not mandatory.
