The West Virginia University Health System is seeking a part-time Advanced Practice Professional (NP or PA) to join the Emergency Medicine team at Waynesburg Urgent Care. The role involves managing emergency medicine patients, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, coordinating care, and participating in education and quality improvement initiatives within a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage comprehensive and individualized emergency care for patients, including assessments, diagnostics, and discharge planning.
• Perform pre-procedure evaluations, diagnostic tests, and communicate results following clinical guidelines.
• Coordinate with medical and surgical teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Facilitate patient discharge processes, including arranging follow-up services and tests.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations, initiating appropriate interventions.
• Document clinical findings, interventions, and care plans accurately in medical records.
• Participate in education of staff, students, and patients, promoting learning and best practices.
• Contribute to quality improvement efforts by reviewing clinical data and outcomes.

Compensation

• Salary compensation model (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

• Part-time position with variable hours.
• Work hours are flexible, including protracted or irregular shifts.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from a CCNE-accredited program and national certification as an APRN or eligibility for licensure in West Virginia.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications; PALS certification encouraged for nurses.
• Experience in acute care or emergency medicine preferred; new graduates considered.
• For Physician Assistants: Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an ARC-PA approved program, and NCCPA certification.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure by the WV Board of Medicine or WV Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with medical equipment and computer systems.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with protracted or irregular hours.
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring strength and stamina, including lifting and moving patients.
