Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the pediatric abdominal transplant team. The role involves providing inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric kidney and liver transplant patients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and managing complex transplant cases in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient coverage for pediatric liver and kidney transplant patients, including history and physicals, consults, and rounding in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and transplant units.
  • Manage pre-transplant, transplant, and post-transplant patients, including discharge education and care coordination.
  • Oversee immunosuppressant management and care of medically complex pediatric patients with end-stage liver and kidney disease.
  • Provide outpatient care in the transplant clinic, including evaluations, follow-up, and ongoing management of transplant patients.
  • Participate in patient and family education regarding transplant processes and post-transplant care.
  • Collaborate with transplant physicians, residents, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, and pharmacists to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Work autonomously and as part of a team, including participating in committee meetings related to transplant patient management.
  • Contribute to 24/7/365 call coverage for the transplant program shared among six APPs.

Compensation

  • Salary compensation model.
  • W-2 tax status.

Shift & Schedule

  • 10-hour daytime shifts during the week.
  • Weekend shifts of approximately 5 hours.
  • Variable schedule with 24/7/365 call coverage shared among six APPs.

Requirements

  • Arizona licensure as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • At least one year of NP/PA experience in pediatrics or transplant preferred.
  • Previous inpatient clinical experience, preferably with transplant patients.
  • Experience managing complex pediatric patients with end-stage liver and kidney disease.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently and in partnership with other healthcare professionals.
  • Comfort with managing immunosuppressant therapy and post-transplant care.
  • Flexibility to work 10-hour days during weekdays and participate in weekend shifts.
  • Willingness to participate in 24/7/365 call coverage for the transplant program.
  • Excellent patient and family education skills.
