The Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing treatment plans for hospitalized patients. The role involves performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and coordinating care with the healthcare team. The NP also provides patient and family education, discharge planning, and documentation of clinical encounters.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient assessments, including medical histories, physical exams, and interpretation of lab and diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose medical conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, monitoring effectiveness and side effects.
  • Perform daily rounds to monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, nurses, and other staff to ensure coordinated care.
  • Complete patient admissions and discharges, including writing discharge summaries and preparing patients for transition to outpatient care.
  • Accurately document all patient encounters, treatments, and plans in the electronic health record (EHR), with MediTech experience preferred.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) program with an MSN or DNP degree.
  • Active RN and APRN licenses in Ohio.
  • National board certification as an NP.

  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and interpretive skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record systems, MediTech experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple patients and tasks under pressure.
  • Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care.
