We are seeking a qualified Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Cardiovascular Surgery team. The role involves providing outpatient and inpatient clinical support to a cardiovascular surgeon, including patient assessments, hospital rounds, and assisting in surgical procedures as First Assist (if credentialed). The position offers opportunities for involvement in surgical cases and participation in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre- and post-operative assessments in outpatient clinics and hospital settings
• Perform hospital rounds and consultations alongside the cardiovascular surgeon
• Assist in surgical procedures as First Assist, if credentialed and trained
• Coordinate patient care plans and communicate with multidisciplinary teams
• Document patient encounters and maintain accurate medical records
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and post-operative care
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical meetings
• Support hospital coverage and potentially assist in the Operating Room

Shift & Schedule

• Full-time position with variable schedule
• Schedule includes hospital coverage and potential Operating Room time
• May involve rotating weekends and on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Current licensure as a PA or APRN in Georgia
• Certification by NCCPA (for PAs) or national certification in a relevant APRN specialty, with cardiology preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience in cardiovascular or cardiothoracic surgery preferred
• First Assist certification or willingness to obtain it
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a flexible schedule with hospital coverage and potential OR time
• Willingness to participate in rotating weekends or on-call responsibilities
