The Electrophysiology Physician Assistant supports the development and delivery of electrophysiology services within Northern Arizona Healthcare. The role involves patient evaluation, coordination of care, assisting in procedures, and participating in quality improvement initiatives under the supervision of a cardiologist. The PA provides direct patient care in inpatient and procedural settings, ensuring efficient and safe management of electrophysiology patients.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with attending physicians to review consultations, care plans, and patient status updates for hospitalized patients.
  • Coordinate care with interventional cardiology providers and patients.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking, physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing medications.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, obtain informed consent, and document all clinical encounters in the EMR.
  • Assist in electrophysiology procedures, including operation of fluoroscopy and EP stimulators, and serve as a surgical first assist when assigned.
  • Perform procedures such as central venous access, local anesthetic injections, suturing, and other interventions within scope of training and supervision.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for hospital staff regarding patient management and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participate in performance improvement, policy development, and quality assurance activities to enhance clinical practice.

Compensation

  • Salary-based compensation (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, dayshift hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM).
  • In-house call required, with the ability to respond to clinical needs as necessary.

Requirements

  • Master's of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA approved program.
  • Certification by NCCPA and current Arizona Physician Assistant licensure.
  • DEA license to prescribe Schedule II-V controlled substances.
  • BLS (American Heart Association) and ACLS certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of inpatient cardiology or electrophysiology experience (preferred).
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must be able to physically attend in-house shifts and respond to call requirements.
  • Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and ongoing professional development.
