The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) provides comprehensive midwifery care to women across the lifespan in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Working collaboratively with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, the CNM delivers patient-centered care that addresses physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and functional needs. The role involves patient education, clinical management, documentation, and participation in quality and professional development activities within a leading healthcare system.
Responsibilities
- Provide full scope midwifery care in outpatient and inpatient settings, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients.
- Educate patients and families on care plans, resources, and treatment options, including discharge instructions and medication side effects.
- Ensure accurate and compliant documentation of clinical encounters in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, and compassion in all patient interactions.
- Serve as a clinical resource and provide orientation to new staff or residents as needed.
- Maintain certification and licensure requirements, including electronic fetal monitoring and assisted surgeries certification.
- Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold standards of care.

Shift & Schedule
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Midwifery program (Certificate, Masters, or Doctoral level).
- Current certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board.
- Connecticut State Licensed Nurse Midwife license and Registered Nurse license.
- BLS certification; NRP certification; Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification (every 2 years).
- Experience of 1-2 years as a CNM or equivalent, preferably in a culturally diverse setting.
- Assisted surgeries certification (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
- DEA license and Connecticut Controlled Substance License.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with knowledge of research methods and computer proficiency.
- Physical and mental health capable of providing patient care, including lifting and handling patients.
