The Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) will provide primary care services in a family medicine setting in Lake Charles, LA. The role involves conducting physical exams, managing patient care, prescribing medications, and educating patients, working collaboratively with physicians to deliver comprehensive healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete physical examinations, obtains medical histories, and records findings.
• Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests to determine diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Administers medications, injections, and sutures minor lacerations in accordance with legal and clinic guidelines.
• Educates patients and families about medications, treatments, health, and illness prevention.
• Collaborates with physicians, maintains and reviews patient records, and posts test results.
• Triages patient telephone calls and provides clinical consultation.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to safety standards.
• Uses medical equipment appropriately to deliver patient care.

Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program or a Master's in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS).
• Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in Louisiana.
• Knowledge of professional nursing or physician assistant practices, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Skill in taking medical histories, assessing conditions, and interpreting clinical data.
• Ability to maintain quality control standards and react effectively in emergency situations.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply clinical guidelines and procedures.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, stretch, sit, walk, and lift up to 50-100 pounds as needed.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and prioritize multiple tasks.
