The Certified Anesthesiology Assistant will provide pre-anesthetic assessments, monitor anesthesia, assist with advanced procedures, and support patient care throughout perioperative and critical care settings at the new Mount Carmel Dublin Surgical Hospital. The role involves working in a collaborative team environment, with responsibilities spanning patient evaluation, anesthesia administration, and post-anesthesia care, primarily during day shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients of all ages to obtain pre-anesthetic health histories and perform physical examinations, documenting findings for review by anesthesiologists.
  • Obtain and interpret diagnostic laboratory and related studies, including blood sampling.
  • Establish and monitor noninvasive and invasive monitoring modalities as delegated by anesthesiologists.
  • Assist in the induction, maintenance, and adjustment of anesthesia, including regional techniques such as spinal, epidural, and nerve blocks.
  • Support advanced life support measures, including airway management and ventilatory support, during perioperative and emergency situations.
  • Perform post-anesthesia patient rounds, record progress notes, and transcribe orders.
  • Participate in the use of advanced monitoring techniques and assist in interpreting results.
  • Contribute to patient safety by evaluating life-threatening situations and administering appropriate emergency treatments.

Compensation

  • W-2 total annual compensation of $305,000 for full-time employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Completion of an accredited anesthesiologist assistant program recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
  • Certification from the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
  • Current state licensure as an anesthesiologist assistant.
  • Experience in anesthesiology preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and critical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in high-stress environments and adapt to irregular schedules, including day, evening, night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to read reports, use electronic medical records, and document accurately.
