Reid Health is seeking a physician assistant to join our Hospitalist team at a 231-bed Level 3 Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center. The role involves overnight shifts, overseeing hospital admissions, and managing a patient census of approximately 10-12 per shift. The hospital features EPIC Smart Rooms and a supportive multidisciplinary team, including residents and medical students.

Responsibilities

• Oversee hospital census and admit approximately 10-12 patients per shift
• Provide patient-centered and empathetic care in a hospital setting
• Manage overnight hospitalist duties during 7-night shifts
• Collaborate with a team of physicians, nurses, and support staff
• Utilize EPIC Smart Rooms for patient documentation and management
• Participate in hospital quality and safety initiatives
• Support hospital operations within a Level 3 Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Supervise or collaborate with Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students on site

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift schedule with 7 nights on and 14 nights off
• Variable schedule based on hospital needs

Requirements

• Physician Assistant (PA) certification and licensure
• Experience or interest in hospital medicine or inpatient care
• Ability to work night shifts on a 7 nights on, 14 nights off schedule
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills
• Empathy and patient-centered approach to care
• Comfort with EPIC electronic health record system
• Willingness to work in a hospital environment with trauma and stroke care
• Ability to manage a moderate patient census independently
• Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred but not required
• Commitment to providing high-quality inpatient care
