The Physician Assistant at RWJBarnabas Health in Belleville, NJ, provides primary healthcare services through assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients. The role involves working independently within established protocols, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring patient safety and quality care. The position requires flexibility to accommodate various scheduling needs, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patient health conditions independently following established procedures.
• Record patient progress notes, issue diagnostic orders, and transcribe physician orders.
• Develop and implement patient care plans in coordination with the healthcare team.
• Perform physical examinations, review laboratory and diagnostic data, and prescribe treatments and medications.
• Provide patient education on health, illness prevention, medications, and treatment instructions.
• Assist with counseling, education, and documentation of patient services, including billing in accordance with regulations.
• Perform procedures such as suturing wounds, incising and draining wounds, and repairing lacerations.
• Monitor patient care continuity and participate in protocol development and quality assurance activities.

Compensation

• Salary range of $120,000 to $170,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Ability and willingness to work extended hours, including weekdays, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
• Broad clinical knowledge, including OB-GYN experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• EPIC electronic health record experience is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
• Experience with developing care protocols and documentation standards.
