The Faculty-Physician Assistant Program-Clinical Year role involves teaching and supervising PA students during their clinical rotations. The position requires collaboration with program leadership to ensure educational standards and accreditation compliance, including curriculum development, site management, student assessment, and participation in program activities. The faculty member will also engage in student advising, site evaluation, and program development to support student success and program quality.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver clinical year curriculum using various teaching methods and standardized tools, including instructional objectives, competencies, and evaluation criteria.
  • Maintain clinical rotation syllabi, including content outlines, instructional methods, and assessment tools.
  • Recruit, develop, and maintain clinical sites and preceptors; match students with appropriate sites.
  • Conduct regular visits to clinical sites for student and site evaluations to ensure program accreditation standards.
  • Create enrichment opportunities for clinical preceptors and students.
  • Assess student understanding and performance objectively; maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement, and performance.
  • Provide student advising, monitor at-risk students, and refer students to university resources as needed.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, program committees, student orientation, admissions, and other program-related activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a physician assistant.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Valid physician assistant license for Rhode Island or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Ability to live or relocate within daily commuting distance of Providence, RI.
  • Experience with curriculum development and clinical site management preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion in education.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards such as ARC-PA.
