This position involves providing anesthesia services for patients undergoing surgical, medical, obstetrical, diagnostic, psychiatric, or resuscitative procedures. The role includes pre-operative assessment, anesthesia administration, and post-procedure monitoring, within a hospital setting. The anesthetist will work on a per diem basis with variable scheduling and is employed by NC Health in Johnston, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients pre-operatively, including history and physical examination, and develop anesthesia care plans.
• Document assessments, plans, and anesthesia care details accurately.
• Explain anesthesia procedures, risks, and benefits to patients and their families.
• Assemble necessary equipment and drugs for anesthesia procedures.
• Administer anesthesia in accordance with departmental standards, monitor patient status, and adjust care as needed.
• Place appropriate lines, ensure a safe environment, and respond to abnormal situations.
• Transport patients post-procedure, report pertinent information, and document anesthesia care.
• Participate in quality improvement activities, continuing education, and institutional committees.

Compensation

• $92.00 to $131.10 per hour, based on experience and internal equity.
• Hourly W-2 employment model.

Shift & Schedule

• Variable work schedule with on-site shifts.
• Standard hours are approximately 4 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program recognized by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
• Licensed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in North Carolina.
• Board certification may be required by the department.
• No prior professional experience required.
• Ability to perform ASA-approved checklists and ensure patient safety.
• Knowledge of anesthesia standards of care and monitoring techniques.
• Strong documentation skills for anesthesia records and reports.
• Participation in quality improvement and clinical learning activities.
• Excellent communication skills for patient and team interactions.
• Ability to work independently in a variable schedule environment.
