The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides psychiatric care to adolescents and young adults in a residential treatment setting. Responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support mental health recovery and stabilization.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive, culturally responsive psychiatric evaluations for adolescent and young adult residents upon admission and as needed.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacological interventions.
• Prescribe, adjust, and manage psychiatric medications ensuring safe and evidence-based care.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, case managers, and other team members to coordinate treatment.
• Provide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and medication adherence.
• Build trusting relationships with clients and families through effective communication and empathy.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Participate in weekly treatment team meetings, case reviews, and staff consultations.

Shift & Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
• Weekend on-call rotation.

Requirements

• MSN as a Nurse Practitioner in California with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification or Post-Masters Psych certification (PMHNP).
• Active California state license with DEA or in process.
• Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric experience; experience with adolescents and young adults preferred.
• Strong background in trauma-informed care, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse healthcare team.
• Solid computer and basic technology skills.
