The position is for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Ochsner Health in the Central Mississippi Region. The role involves providing outpatient medical care, managing urgent and primary care cases, stabilizing critically ill patients, and participating in teaching and patient education under supervision. The provider will work within a collaborative team including residents, fellows, and staff physicians, and must be adaptable to a flexible schedule including on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary and urgent medical management for outpatient clinic patients.
• Stabilize critically ill patients in emergency situations.
• Collaborate with a team including residents, fellows, staff physicians, nurses, and discharge coordinators.
• Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and staff development.
• Adhere to approved medical practices and protocols in delivering patient care.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
• Contribute to teaching residents, medical students, and staff education.
• Ensure safety and privacy standards are upheld during patient interactions.

Compensation

• Salary compensation model (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

• Variable schedule days with on-call requirements.
• Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Nursing for Nurse Practitioners or Bachelor's/Master's in Physician Assistant studies for PAs.
• Current license as an APRN in the state of practice (for Nurse Practitioners) or Physician Assistant license (for PAs).
• Certification as Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (ANCC or AANPCP) for NPs.
• Basic Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association.
• Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice.
• Proficiency with Windows applications and clinical software, with effective communication skills.
• Reliable transportation for travel between facilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
• Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, perform manual dexterity tasks, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Experience in outpatient care and working within a team-based healthcare environment is preferred but not required.
