The Certified Nurse Midwife at Memorial Hospital Shiloh provides comprehensive prenatal, labor, delivery, and postpartum care to women across all stages of pregnancy. Working with considerable independence under the supervision of an obstetrician/gynecologist, the role involves monitoring high-risk pregnancies, offering patient education, and supporting women through childbirth and related events. The position includes clinic duties, on-call responsibilities, and some holiday rotations.

Responsibilities

• Assist women through all stages of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care.
• Monitor, counsel, and educate patients on health, medications, treatments, and referrals.
• Conduct examinations and take detailed medical histories to assess patient needs.
• Identify high-risk pregnancies and make appropriate referrals to specialists.
• Supervise and assist mothers during labor, monitoring fetal condition and managing pain.
• Provide support and guidance following birth, miscarriage, termination, or neonatal complications.
• Work independently under physician-approved protocols, with oversight through chart review and consultations.
• Participate in scheduled clinic days, on-call duties, and occasional holiday rotations.

Shift & Schedule

• Variable days, primarily dayshift hours

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing
• 2-5 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Midwife
• Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience in managing high-risk pregnancies preferred but open to new graduates
• Strong patient counseling and education skills
• Knowledge of obstetric protocols and pain management techniques
• Excellent communication and clinical assessment skills
• Flexibility to work variable days and on-call shifts
