This is a locum tenens Cardio Thoracic Physician Assistant position in Washington, requiring coverage in a hospital setting. The role involves performing advanced cardiac and thoracic procedures, working in the OR and ICU, and participating in call rotations. The position offers flexible scheduling with both full-time and part-time options, starting ASAP and ongoing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in robotic lobectomy, thymectomy, CABG, valve replacements, thoracotomy, VATS, LVAD implantation, and aortic dissection repair.
• Work in the OR and ICU, with occasional step-down patient care.
• Conduct morning rounds and discharges daily.
• Perform vein and radial harvesting using the Maquet System.
• Prepare conduits, place post-op orders, and close sternotomy as per surgeon’s preference.
• Participate in daily clinic visits for post-operative patients (Monday-Thursday).
• Handle admissions and manage post-op care.
• Provide call coverage every third weekday and every fourth weekend, including emergency and routine hospital calls.

Shift & Schedule

• Variable schedule days and shift timings.
• In-house call schedule: every third weekday (5 PM – 7 AM) and every fourth weekend (Friday 5 PM – Monday 7 AM).
• Call rotation includes late cases, CCU calls, emergency hospital returns, rounding, discharges, and chest tube management.

Requirements

• Board eligible in relevant specialty.
• Washington medical license or IMLC certification.
• BLS certification.
• Experience with vein harvesting and first assist procedures.
• Ability to perform robotic lobectomy, thymectomy, CABG, valve procedures, thoracotomy, VATS, LVAD, and aortic dissection repair.
• Competence in working in OR and ICU settings, including morning rounds and discharges.
• Availability for variable schedule including call rotations.
• Experience with endoscopic vein and radial harvesting using Maquet System.
• Strong procedural and clinical skills in cardiothoracic surgery.
