The position involves providing clinical services, training, and supervision to Community Health Aides/Practitioners in village clinics within the Norton Sound region. The incumbent will assess, plan, and deliver patient care under physician supervision, support health care delivery, and ensure compliance with program standards. Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and provide patient care under the supervision of a physician.
  • Perform clinical, teaching, and administrative work demonstrating professionalism, cultural competency, and teamwork.
  • Support Community Health Aide/Practitioners in delivering health care services in collaboration with medical staff and public health programs.
  • Provide training and medical evaluation to CHA/Ps through on-site visits, telehealth, classroom instruction, and clinical observation.
  • Review and monitor the medical activities of CHA/Ps according to program standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with directors, training staff, and referral physicians to address medical and training needs of CHA/Ps.
  • Identify and communicate clinic facility issues to appropriate authorities.
  • Recommend updates or revocation of Medical Standing Orders to the Medical Director.

Compensation

  • Hourly wage ranging from USD 79.48 to USD 101.50.
  • Compensation is provided as a W-2 employment arrangement.

Shift & Schedule

  • Work involves 100% travel to villages served by Norton Sound Health Corporation.
  • Travel may include large aircraft, small aircraft, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, or boats.

Requirements

  • Must hold or be able to obtain an unrestricted license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Alaska or another state allowing practice in Alaska.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a community health or rural setting.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural environments.
  • Primary care experience in rural settings.
  • Eligible for DEA registration.
  • Experience with telemedicine and Cerner electronic health records preferred.
  • Clinical teaching experience preferred.
  • Must pass background check per federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize workload, and work under stress.
