HRMC is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide emergency department triage, medical screening, stabilization, and treatment under physician supervision. The role involves direct patient care in a full-time, night-shift position, with responsibilities including performing services permitted by South Dakota law and contributing to the hospital's mission of respectful, engaged, available, competent, and helpful care.

Responsibilities

• Provide triage, medical screening examination, stabilization, and treatment for emergency department patients under supervision.
• Perform services allowed by South Dakota law for Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners.
• Manage patient care for each individual, ensuring appropriate treatment and documentation.
• Participate in same-day sick visits in the HRMC Physicians Clinic as needed.
• Adhere to hospital protocols and standards for emergency care.
• Demonstrate professionalism and compassion in interactions with patients and staff.
• Maintain required certifications and stay current with emergency care competencies.
• Assist with patient movement and support within the emergency department as needed.

Shift & Schedule

• Night shift hours from 18:00 to 08:30.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program with certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, or graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program with certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
• Licensed and registered as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in South Dakota.
• At least two years of emergency room experience.
• Current ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent assistance of patients and moderate lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with social sensitivity.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate leadership qualities.
• Knowledge of body mechanics and safety procedures in patient handling.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the role, including standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
