The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), will provide inpatient care for blood and marrow transplant (BMT) patients and those with hematologic malignancies at Riverside Methodist Hospital. The role involves inpatient coverage with a schedule of three 12-hour shifts per week, including night shifts and occasional weekends, with opportunities to gain outpatient clinic experience. The APP collaborates with physicians in the ICU or as a surgical first assist, performing invasive procedures and making independent clinical decisions within the scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient care for blood and marrow transplant patients and patients with hematologic malignancies.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians in the hospital setting, including ICU and surgical assist roles.
  • Perform invasive procedures and make independent clinical decisions within the scope of practice.
  • Manage patient care during and after blood and marrow transplants.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote best practices.
  • Adhere to state laws, professional standards, and supervision agreements (SA) or standard care arrangements (SCA).
  • Maintain documentation and communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status.
  • Possibly gain outpatient clinic experience if interested.

Compensation

  • Salary-based compensation (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

  • Variable schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week.
  • Includes night shifts and approximately one weekend every four weeks.
  • Opportunity for outpatient clinic hours if interested.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies.
  • Certification from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • State of Ohio APRN license or Physician Assistant license.
  • Supervision Agreement (SA) or Standard Care Arrangement (SCA) with a physician in the same practice area.
  • Experience or training in inpatient care, particularly in hematology or transplant settings preferred.
  • Ability to perform invasive procedures and make autonomous clinical decisions.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Compliance with applicable state laws and professional standards.
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Commitment to quality patient care and continuous learning.
