The Nurse Practitioner provides primary healthcare services to individuals and families across all age groups. Responsibilities include assessing patient health, diagnosing conditions, developing treatment plans, performing procedures, and educating patients. The role may involve supervising or mentoring student and volunteer Nurse Practitioners, in accordance with state regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient health through interviews, physical examinations, and review of medical histories.
  • Diagnose conditions by ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as imaging, ECGs, and laboratory studies.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans within scope of practice and in accordance with accepted standards of care.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound management.
  • Consult with supervising physicians as necessary, following the Physician Supervision Agreement approved by the Ohio State Medical Board.
  • Educate and counsel patients on medical conditions, treatment options, growth and development, family planning, and wellness strategies.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements, and advise management on necessary actions.

Compensation

  • Compensation model is classified as 'Other' with W-2 tax status.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and completed a formal Nurse Practitioner program at an accredited institution.
  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner from ANCC or equivalent certifying body.
  • Current Ohio Registered Nurse licensure and Certificate of Authority.
  • Valid DEA registration and ability to prescribe medications under Ohio Board of Nursing "Certificate to Prescribe" using the established formulary.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook and EMR systems; EPIC experience preferred.
  • Must be able to perform manual dexterity tasks and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
  • Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to handle medical equipment.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with relevant legal and professional standards.
