The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a part-time, per diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) or Certified Anesthesiology Assistant (CAA) at the faculty rank of Clinical Instructor. The role involves providing specialized anesthetic care under medical supervision at University of Colorado Hospital, with responsibilities including documentation and participation in departmental quality assurance. The position emphasizes clinical care and teaching within the operating room setting, with flexible shift opportunities at least eight hours in length.

Responsibilities

• Administer anesthetic care under the medical direction of an attending anesthesiologist.
• Document pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care appropriate to each case.
• Cooperate with departmental quality assurance review processes.
• Provide hands-on, one-on-one instruction to trainees in the operating room as part of teaching responsibilities.
• Work at the University of Colorado Hospital on a per diem basis, selecting available shifts.
• Participate in perioperative patient care with a focus on safety and quality.
• Maintain licensure and certification in accordance with Colorado state requirements.
• Contribute to the clinical education of anesthesiology trainees as a faculty member.

Compensation

• Hourly rate of $175.00, paid one month in arrears.
• Compensation is based on hourly, per diem shifts with no overtime eligibility unless non-exempt.

Shift & Schedule

• Variable days and hours, with shifts of at least eight hours.

• Shift availability is determined by departmental needs and can be picked up or passed on by the clinician.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited nurse anesthetist or anesthesiologist assistant educational program.
• Active certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists or American Association of Anesthesiologist Assistants.
• Licensed as a registered nurse in Colorado and registered with the Colorado State Board of Nursing.
• Strong working and theoretical knowledge of anesthesiology and perioperative medicine.
• Experience in teaching anesthesiology preferred.
• Ability to work onsite at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.
• Must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
• Must be able to work shifts of at least eight hours; no call shifts are included.
• Candidates must be licensed and certified to practice in Colorado.
