The Physician Assistant in Cardiothoracic ICU at Lankenau Medical Center provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and perioperative care under physician supervision. The role involves working in a fast-paced ICU environment, supporting cardiac surgery patients through all phases of care, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks under the supervision of the surgeon in the cardiothoracic ICU.
• Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient care.
• Serve as a patient advocate, liaison, and confidant, ensuring personalized care.
• Assist in establishing diagnoses and planning treatment strategies.
• Support patient education and communication between patients and physicians.
• Participate in weekend and holiday shifts as required.
• Maintain certification and stay current with BLS and ACLS training.
• Contribute to a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in a physical science from an accredited institution.
• Graduate of an accredited physician assistant/surgical assistant program.
• Certification or eligibility for certification by the NCCPA.
• Current or eligible PA license in Pennsylvania.
• Recent two years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery preferred.
• Completion of basic and advanced cardiac life support courses.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Strong communication and patient advocacy skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
