The Physician Assistant will provide clinical and administrative support in a pediatric orthopedic setting, assisting with patient examinations, diagnostic testing, procedures, and pre- and post-operative care under the supervision of a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. The role emphasizes teamwork, high-quality patient care, and adherence to clinical protocols in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity, review medical history, medications, and vital signs in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Examine patients and develop treatment plans for orthopedic conditions within scope of practice.
• Order, interpret, and document diagnostic tests such as X-rays and blood tests.
• Perform clinic procedures including casting, splinting, setting fractures, wound care, and assisting with surgical procedures.
• Assist with pre-operative and post-operative patient care and facilitate patient discharge processes.
• Respond promptly to healthcare communications and educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and recovery.
• Communicate with physicians regarding patient care plans and seek guidance as needed.
• Engage in continuing education and quality improvement activities to maintain high standards of care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Current Nevada license and Board Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA).
• One to three years of experience in an orthopedic clinical setting or relevant education/experience combination.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with physicians, patients, families, and team members.
• Ability to perform orthopedic procedures such as casting, splinting, and fracture management.
• Knowledge of infection control, sterile techniques, and safety protocols in a clinical environment.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and demonstrate emotional maturity.
• Physical ability to perform clinic duties including standing, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs., and fine motor tasks.
