The Pediatric Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) works under the supervision of attending anesthesiologists to administer anesthesia to pediatric patients under 18 years old. The role involves developing care plans, monitoring vital signs, adjusting anesthesia levels, and supporting perioperative patient care in a pediatric surgical setting. The CAA collaborates with the anesthesia team and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective anesthesia delivery, with a focus on patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed anesthesia to pediatric patients under the supervision of an anesthesiologist.
• Obtain pre-anesthetic patient history and perform physical examinations; order pre-op evaluations and medications as needed.
• Establish and interpret multi-parameter monitoring, including advanced monitoring modalities and invasive lines.
• Perform initial CPR/ACLS in emergency situations until the supervising anesthesiologist is available.
• Utilize advanced treatment modalities such as airway management, intubation, vasoactive infusions, and blood administration as prescribed.
• Assist in post-operative care, including ventilator support and pain management, in conjunction with protocols and supervising anesthesiologist.
• Engage in teaching and research activities as directed by the supervising anesthesiologist.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current NCCAA certification.
• ACLS and PALS certification.
• Skilled in advanced patient monitoring techniques in anesthesia care.
• Bachelor's degree and completion of a CAAHEP-accredited two-year Anesthesia Assistant program.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Must reside and work in Texas.
• Position may be security sensitive under Texas law.
