The Physician Assistant will function as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing high-quality, cost-effective care within their scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The role includes performing first assist procedures, covering ICU, and participating in clinical, educational, and quality improvement activities in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform physical assessments, interpret diagnostic tests, and develop differential diagnoses.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe evidence-based pharmacological agents, and schedule follow-up care.
• Conduct preventive health screenings based on patient age, history, and needs.
• Maintain accurate, comprehensive patient records and ensure proper documentation for billing.
• Educate patients and families regarding medical conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
• Provide instruction and mentorship to physicians, residents, nursing staff, and students, including precepting and training.
• Participate in community outreach programs and lead or contribute to system improvement initiatives.
• Perform medical procedures consistent with departmental guidelines and clinical responsibilities.

Compensation

• $64.36 to $88.11 per hour (Hiring Range)
• Compensation is based on experience and internal equity.
• W-2 employment status.

Shift & Schedule

• Monday through Friday, dayshift schedule.
• Work hours are 40 hours per week.
• No in-house call; weekend call is approximately 1 in every 7 weekends when fully staffed.
• Call schedule varies and may include weekends.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
• Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant) in North Carolina.
• Board certification if required by the department.
• Current DEA license.
• Demonstrated clinical competency and effective leadership skills.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Experience or strong preference for EVH, radial artery harvest, and first assist procedures.
• Ability to document accurately for billing and compliance.
• No prior experience required, but relevant procedural experience is strongly preferred.
