A cardiothoracic surgery locum tenens position involving OR, clinic, and rounding responsibilities. The role requires prior cardiothoracic surgery experience and offers a Monday through Friday schedule with call coverage every other week. The position provides comprehensive support including licensing, malpractice, housing, and travel arrangements, along with competitive hourly compensation.
Responsibilities
- Perform approximately one case per day in the operating room, including procedures such as thoracentesis, chest tubes, and VATS.
- Manage a mix of OR, clinic, and rounding duties with a focus on adult patients and some pediatric referrals.
- Provide call coverage on a 1:3 basis, every other week.
- Utilize endoscopic vein harvest techniques using Maquet and Hemopro systems.
- Participate in preoperative and postoperative patient care and assessments.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure quality patient outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with credentialing and privileging requirements.
- Handle or assist with procedures like EVH (Endoscopic Vein Harvest).
Compensation
- Hourly rate ranging from $100.00 to $125.00, based on experience and qualifications.
- Additional support for licensing, malpractice, and relocation costs.
- Compensation is on a 1099 tax basis.

Shift & Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8-hour days.
- Day shift hours from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm in the OR and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the clinic.
- Call coverage required at a 1:3 ratio, every other week, with variable call hours.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of prior cardiothoracic surgery experience.
- Experience with thoracentesis, chest tubes, and VATS preferred.
- Ability to perform endoscopic vein harvest using Maquet and Hemopro systems.
- Excellent clinical skills in adult cardiothoracic patient management.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle call responsibilities.
- Current medical licensure and credentials in good standing.
- Experience working with pediatric cardiothoracic referrals is a plus.
- Comfort with a variable schedule and call duties.
