The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner to provide primary health care services to students within the University Health and Counseling Services. The role involves direct patient care, health education, and participation in policy development, with a focus on promoting student health and well-being. Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced practice nursing care to students, including management of minor trauma, illnesses, reproductive health, health maintenance, and health promotion.

  • Identify students at risk for serious health conditions and respond appropriately.
  • Contribute to policy development, quality standards, and committee participation within UHCS.

Compensation

  • Salary commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Shift & Schedule

  • Part-time position at 0.75 FTE annually.
  • Provision of direct care not to be less than 90% of contracted hours per year.

Requirements

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Wisconsin.
  • Sensitivity to the development issues of young adults and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Willingness to undergo training in transgender health care; experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with individuals from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to follow safety rules and participate in necessary training and drills.
  • Strong communication skills and commitment to student-centered care.
  • Experience in primary care preferred, with a Master of Science degree or certification as a specialist.
  • Current knowledge of nursing and health care developments through ongoing professional development.
  • Willingness to participate in health education and community outreach activities.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessments.
