The University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks an Adjunct Faculty member for the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. This part-time, non-tenure-track position involves teaching didactic and clinical courses, developing instructional materials, supervising student performance, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. The role reports to the Program Director and collaborates with faculty and staff to support program objectives.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned didactic and/or clinical courses within the PA curriculum as designated by the Program Director or Director of Didactic Education.
• Develop and revise course content, including syllabi, lecture materials, and examination questions.
• Participate in the evaluation and improvement of course delivery, instructional effectiveness, and student learning outcomes.
• Supervise and assess student performance in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings.
• Engage in student advising, mentorship, and academic remediation as needed.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of competency-based assessments aligned with program goals and standards.
• Participate in peer review of faculty teaching and provide constructive feedback.
• Conduct site visits for students on clinical rotations to evaluate performance and maintain preceptor relationships.

Compensation

• $1000 - $6,500 per course per semester
• Compensation is paid on a W-2 basis
• Salary varies based on course load and experience

Shift & Schedule

Requirements

• Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited program.
• Current NCCPA certification or eligibility for Maryland physician assistant licensure.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
• At least 1 year of teaching experience in higher education.
• Experience with clinical instruction within a PA program preferred.
• Demonstrated scholarship and grant submission history preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituents.
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as standing, sitting, lifting up to 25 lbs, and operating office equipment.
• Doctoral degree in a health or science-related field or a board-certified MD/Osteopath with unrestricted license in Maryland.
