The Advanced Practice healthcare professional is a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with cardiology experience, responsible for performing and supervising cardiac stress tests, ensuring patient safety, and providing follow-up care in a stress test laboratory setting. The role involves collaboration with referring providers, pre- and post-test assessments, and managing acute cardiac events as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient safety before, during, and after cardiac stress testing.
• Perform cardiac stress tests on adult patients in the Stress Test Lab.
• Collaborate with referring providers to ensure appropriate testing.
• Conduct pre-assessment and obtain patient consent prior to testing.
• Monitor patients throughout the test and recovery, completing all documentation.
• Provide urgent care and follow-up for patients with acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, or post-test complications, following AHA and ACC guidelines.
• Follow advanced practice protocols for exercise and pharmacological stress testing.
• Supervise technicians during stress testing procedures.

Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited school or Master of Science and Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C).
• At least 2 years of experience in an expanded healthcare provider role.
• Experience in cardiology; proven competency with stress testing preferred or ability to obtain observed stress tests within 90 days of hire.
• Vermont APRN license with prescriptive authority or Vermont PA license with no restrictions.
• Current DEA license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, department software, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong interpersonal skills and clinical decision-making ability.
