The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking inpatient Certified Nurse Midwives to join the Labor & Delivery and Perinatal Evaluation Center teams. The role involves providing care to both low and high-risk obstetric patients in a multidisciplinary environment, with responsibilities including triage, delivery, and patient management. The position offers opportunities for involvement in resident training and education, within a collaborative academic medical center dedicated to high-quality patient care, research, and education.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient obstetric care, including labor, delivery, and postpartum management for low and high-risk patients.
• Perform triage assessments and manage obstetric concerns in the Perinatal Evaluation Center.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Participate in patient education and counseling related to pregnancy and childbirth.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and hospital clinical excellence indicators.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education as required by regulatory agencies.
• Assist in resident training and education in obstetrics and midwifery practices.
• Work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24/7 patient coverage.

Shift & Schedule

• Variable schedule with hours determined by clinical needs.

Requirements

• Current certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
• Registered Nurse license and Nurse Midwife certification (CNM).
• Prescriptive authority in the state of Pennsylvania.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Master of Arts or Science degree in Nursing or higher (e.g., DNP).
• Minimum of 2.5 years of clinical experience as a Certified Nurse Midwife.
• Current PA RN license and eligibility for credentialing by the hospital's Credentials Committee.
• Ability to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
