The position involves directing and overseeing all aspects of the Anesthesiologist Assistant Program, including clinical anesthesia services, educational program management, faculty coordination, and compliance with accreditation standards. The role combines clinical responsibilities at Memorial Hermann Hospital and administrative leadership within the academic program.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality anesthesia care services to surgical patients at Memorial Hermann Hospital and ASC.
• Act as the liaison between the Anesthesiologist Assistant Program and hospital staff, surgeons, and faculty.
• Coordinate and manage the monthly operating room schedule, call schedule, and faculty schedules.
• Manage human resources activities for direct reports, including recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
• Develop, implement, and modify the educational curriculum, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards and institutional priorities.
• Provide leadership in strategic planning, program development, and financial management, including preparing financial reports.
• Teach students in didactic and clinical settings.
• Ensure program compliance with accreditation standards, policies, and institutional requirements.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant program and professional certification as an Anesthesiologist Assistant.
• Bachelor's degree and successful completion of a CAAHEP-accredited two-year Anesthesia Assistant program.
• Minimum of three years of experience as an Anesthesiologist Assistant.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and communication technology.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Experience in clinical anesthesia care and program management.
• Knowledge of accreditation standards and educational program development.
• Strong leadership and administrative skills.
• Ability to coordinate schedules and manage human resources activities.
• Residency in Texas required.
