The Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) at the James ED/ICC/Observation unit provides healthcare services to patients with acute and chronic conditions in a high-acuity cancer care setting. The role involves collaboration with physicians and other clinicians to deliver comprehensive patient care, including health promotion, disease management, education, and referrals within a 24-hour, rotating shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services to patients during acute and chronic phases of illness in collaboration with licensed physicians.
• Manage patients receiving cancer treatment, addressing side effects and complications.
• Perform authorized medical procedures and services within scope of practice and credentialing guidelines.
• Educate and counsel patients and families on health management and preventive care.
• Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers and community resources as needed.
• Participate in a 24-hour team managing the Oncology emergency department, Immediate Care Center, and Observation Unit.
• Contribute to patient care during rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Adhere to institutional policies, protocols, and standards of care.

Compensation

• Salary-based compensation (W-2 tax status).

Shift & Schedule

• Variable days and hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Shift hours typically 8 hours per shift, with rotating schedules.

Requirements

• Current certification to practice as an APRN or PA-C in Ohio.
• Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program eligible for certification by a recognized national certifying organization.
• Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent for Nurse Practitioners; PA-C certification for Physician Assistants.
• Eligibility for Ohio licensure as a PA-C.
• 0 years of relevant experience required; acute care or PA experience preferred.
