The Physician Assistant will provide medical care and support for mobilization, deployment, and demobilization processes at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in Fort Bliss, TX. The role involves conducting medical assessments, processing personnel through various health stations, and ensuring compliance with military and healthcare standards. The PA will work in a fast-paced environment, supporting readiness and health services for military personnel, civilians, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Perform medical examinations, diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications within scope of practice and privileges.
• Conduct pre- and post-deployment health assessments, including reviewing medical histories, completing forms, and coordinating follow-up care.
• Facilitate personnel processing through medical stations such as laboratory, immunizations, dental, vision, and audiology.
• Review and follow up on abnormal lab and x-ray reports within one week of receipt.
• Request diagnostic tests, referrals, and admissions as appropriate.
• Document all patient encounters, maintain accurate medical records in AHLTA, and ensure reports are complete and legible.
• Respond to medical emergencies, including cardiopulmonary arrest, as needed.
• Participate in team meetings, patient care conferences, and adhere to CDC infection control guidelines.

Compensation

Shift & Schedule

• Variable days and hours, generally around 40 hours per week.
• Shifts may include longer hours, evenings, and weekends based on mission needs.
• Operational hours typically from 0730 to 1600 or 1630, with possible variations.
• Employee will be compensated only for hours worked during scheduled or actual operational days; clinic closures require use of leave or LWOP.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited PA training program.
• Current certification by the NCCPA or its successor.
• Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant license in any U.S. state or territory.
• Current DEA registration certificate.
• Possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Minimum of one year of full-time PA experience within the last two years.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Physical ability to stand, sit, and perform all required duties for extended periods.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment.
