The University of Florida is a public land-grant research university based in Gainesville, FL, and the anchor of the UF Health academic health center. Its College of Medicine (Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses) comprises more than 1,400 full-time faculty physicians in Gainesville and roughly 650+ faculty physicians in Jacksonville, supporting inpatient care at UF Health Shands Hospital (a large teaching hospital and Level I trauma center) and multiple specialty hospitals and outpatient networks across North Florida. UF operates broad specialty and subspecialty programs including cancer, heart and vascular, neuromedicine, transplant, pediatric, and critical care services, and hosts extensive graduate medical education with numerous residency and fellowship programs. Clinicians participate in research centers and interdisciplinary institutes, academic teaching for medical students, and care across affiliated hospitals and community practice sites statewide.
